Happy Friday, Observers.
What a week for observing it has been.
I want to try some thing new here:
A weekly news email.
In some way or another, for years and years, I’ve done a Friday round-up of sorts (first on my blog and then through weekly emails).
I’ve taken a long break (with posts here and there) from anything consistent as I’ve been letting life take it’s course as needed in grieving my dad, working with intention to heal my body and nervous system and living life off screen.
During this time, I have felt no rush to begin a new “work” (“Are you working on a new book?” I get asked often) of any kind. In this area, I truly trust the timing of my life and God’s leading.
With the death of my dad (Gah, I still feel denial when I type those words), in some ways, it feels as if either a part of me has died, or as if maybe I’ve been reborn. Both. Really. I’ve been working through layers of both conscious and subconscious evaluation about life and purpose.
These days, I’m finding the journey of life to be more of an experimentation. Permission to follow curiousity. Desire to try new things and take risks. To let my interests and work appear unclear. To let go of the narrative of níche.
I want to write essays and poetry and try fiction. I want to host events and collaborate with other creatives. I want to lead a trip or retreat—to create atmospheres where weary souls can rest, find more freedom and experience the magic and joy of life again through beauty. I want to do some form of recovery work. I want to travel more. Decorate a house and have a studio. I want to create beautiful things and lead others in pursuit of beauty. I want to continue to help other’s Unclutter their Souls and experience the freedom of the Finished Work of the Cross.
Also, the ink in my veins is hot and I want to be a news girl. I want to discuss current events and politics, share news, help other’s navigate the media, maybe write a few editorial pieces, PUBLISH! . . . . be a part of the Media Revolution we are currently in
I seem to have already taken this slight turn over on Instagram. It’s very easy to quickly share content and news in that space (and fun with memes :).
I’m sure this addition of content has confused some people and, sometimes, it’s conflicting for me . . . because I still feel like I have to pick one or the other. And I don’t want to.
So . . . I’m not going to.
I’m going to play.
Today, it’s a weekly news email for my paid subscribers
(Dear paid subscribers, I truly appreciate you. Thank you for your support and your patience).
What a week it has been in the news!
This either is the best week to start a weekly news email with the abundance of news or a bad idea with political fervor at a fever pitch.
A disclaimer: These are my personal observations, curations, and at times opinions.
For now we are doing a roundup. Maybe it flies. Maybe it fails. Maybe we bore of it. Let’s see.
